4 named in FIR for Homa Havan in Shahpur

A FIR has been now lodged in the Shahpur Police station in connection with the Homa Havan and flouting of the COVID guidelines.

Health officer incharge of Shahpur has given a compliant on the basis of which a FIR has been lodged at the Shahpur Police station on May 28.

As per the complaint Sunil Mutkekar, Kallappa Shahpurkar, Jayant Jadhav and Girish Dhongadi have been named.

Abhay Patil MLA South had led an ‘Agnihotra homa’ procession in Shahpur area Belagavi city on Tuesday May 25, claiming it will purify the air.

Violating the Coivd-19 lockdown norms, Patil along with a group of people was seen pushing a cart containing a burning fire of cow dung cakes, camphor, neem leaves, Guggula (gum resin) and other herbs to perform the homa on the streets of the old city on Tuesday.

At least 50 persons in his constituency had performed the homa in front of their houses. He vehemently denied that he violated the lockdown protocols.

Earlier, DC MG Hiremath had said, Such a procession violates COVID-19 guidelines. Shahpur police have been instructed to book a case. If such processions are repeated again, stringent action will be taken.
