After years of complaints over badly damaged roads in the Kanabargi Industrial Area near Belagavi, funds have finally been sanctioned for major infrastructure improvement works. Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar announced that the Karnataka Government has approved two major road development projects and released Rs 7.37 crore for their execution.

According to Shettar, he had written to Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries M. B. Patil on October 25, 2025, seeking a grant of Rs 9.10 crore for the repair and upgradation of roads in the industrial area, which have remained in poor condition for several years. Industrialists and residents of the area had repeatedly appealed for immediate repairs due to difficulties faced in transportation and industrial operations.

Based on the proposal submitted, three road development works were identified. Out of these, two projects have now received administrative approval along with financial sanction amounting to Rs 7.37 crore.
