The negligence of elected representatives towards the burning issues of North Karnataka was made glaringly apparent during the winter session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha Belagavi on Wednesday.
Of the 224 legislators, only 30 participated, with Muddebihal MLA AS Patil Nadahalli taking the lead in highlighting the issues of North Karnataka.
The Assembly devoted a special discussion to the issues of North Karnataka for a full 30 minutes on Wednesday evening.
Nadahalli demanded comprehensive development of the region, noting that the implementation of the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) stage-3 would bring 14 lakh hectares of land in North Karnataka under irrigation. He urged the government to resolve the legal issues and implement this important project.
