On Friday evening, tragedy struck the city of Belagavi when a 12-year-old schoolboy, Pradeep Shinde, was killed as the tipper ran over him.
The incident occurred near Bhagyanagar 10th Cross at around 5 pm, as Pradeep was making his way home on his bicycle.
He was a student of Shanbhag School in Rohidas Colony, 4th Railway Gate Angol Belagavi.
The accident has sparked a discussion in the area, as road repair work is currently underway in the city, resulting in an increased number of tipper cargo trucks on the roads.
The Traffic South Police have registered a case.
The city is mourning the loss of the young student.
