A tragic incident occurred at the Belagavi DC office premises when a woman, identified as Saraswati, attempted suicide along with her three young daughters by consuming pesticide. The good news is that all four are now safe and out of danger, thanks to the quick response of the DC office staff who immediately shifted them to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) hospital after they started vomiting.

According to sources, Saraswati’s husband, Adrushyappa, has been absconding for the past two weeks following the torture of money lenders, as he has taken huge loans from them. Adrushyappa used to work in a hair-cutting salon, and after his disappearance, the family started struggling to make ends meet. With no other option left, Saraswati visited the DC office on Wednesday to seek help. However, after a long wait, mentally exhausted Saraswati took an extreme step.

Pretending to be juice, she gave pesticide to her three daughters, aged 3, 8, and 14, and asked them to drink it. She then consumed the same. Within a short while, the girls started feeling uncomfortable and began to vomit. The DC office staff acted swiftly and shifted them to the BIMS hospital, where they received timely medical attention.

The incident has been registered at the Market police station, and an investigation is underway.
