Today again the agitating farmers and also activists who have come together with farmers were arrested as they were protesting in front of the gates of the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha.
The farmers of Halga are protesting against the Govt for acquiring 19.20 acres of their fertile land on which 3 crops are taken for a sewage treatment plant.
The Deputy Commissioner had said that the plant had to be built and there was no option and on Saturday had categorically mentioned that more compensation can be sought.
While Laxmi Hebbalkar is seen fighting for the cause of farmers whose land is acquired for the STP, her stand has surprised several other farmers who have lost their land for works including the Ring Road and Halaga-Macche bypass road.
The STP project has been delayed for over 7 years now.
