On December 26, India successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable, inter-continental ballistic missile Agni 5, that has a range of over 5,000 km from Abdul Kalam island off Odisha coast.

The actuator fitted in the Agni 5 have been designed in Belagavi based Servocontrols.

An actuator is a component of a machine that is responsible for moving or controlling a mechanism or system. An actuator requires a control signal and a source of energy. The control signal is relatively low energy and may be electric voltage or current, pneumatic or hydraulic pressure, or even human power.

Servocontrols, which works on aerospace technology, had supplied position sensors for Isro’s Mars Orbiter Mission in 2014.
