A meeting which was chaired by Anantkumar Hegde, MoS for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, it was decided that Air Cargo handling facilities would be launched at Belagavi airport soon by utilizing the old Airport terminal.
Airports Authority of India Cargo Logistics & Allied Services Company Ltd.(Wholly Owned Subsidiary of AAI) will install screening and X-ray facilities at the proposed Cargo facility at Belagavi Airport.
Officers of the AAICLAS will visit Belagavi on 17th January to ascertain the quantum of Air Cargo available and will also meet with the stakeholders.
Initially, Air Cargo will focus on Agricultural and Horticultural goods like vegetables, fruits, Flowers and other industrial goods which are readily available.
The area covered for the cargo proposes to cater to the needs of the entire North Karnataka , southern Parts of Maharashtra and Goa.
