The Department of Forests has a taken a leap ahead towards conservation and has established as many 24 anti-poaching check posts permanent basis, in Khanapur jungles.
The main aim of setting them up is to strengthen wildlife conservation activities in that area.
Apart from Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary limits, the anti poaching centres have also been established at forest ranges comprising Kankumbi, Khanapur, Londa, Nagargali and Golihalli. Every unit will be operated by 4 forest personnel’s, for keeping a vigil eye in their respective forest areas. The post will have solar lamps, kitchen, cots etc so that a 24 hour vigil by the personnel can be there.
Anish Andheria, president of Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT), has assured of some more facilities which will make this check posts more reliable.
