Apply for passports at Belagavi post office from next month

It is our effort that Post Office Passport Sewa Kendras announced in the first phase should start functioning before 31.3.2017,

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Belagavi soon, we had published this story on February 10 and now the minister has tweeted that POPSK would commence operations before 31st of March 2017 which is very welcome sign.

 

passportOnce fully functional, applicants who apply for their passports on-line through the Passport Portal will be able to schedule an appointment at the above POPSK to complete the formalities necessary prior to the issue of the passport.

This service is aimed at making the passport issuance process hassle-free and ease burden on passport offices across the country which are grappling with large volume of applications.

The External Affairs Ministry, which issues passports, is making all required arrangements for roll-out of the scheme in some of the select cities in first half of March.

According to MEA, the objective of the government has been to cater to the demand for passports and to reach out to the people located far away from the passport offices.

Few years back this Facility was available at Ambabhuvan Post Office, handled by single person, and to SURPRISE of all those having experience service(?) of staff in Post Offices, this person was truely extraordinary service friendly. Once he finalise scutiny of it put his stamp(no origibals only zerox copies) & receipt of Rs.1,000/- he used to send it to Bangalore & after that within one mobth Police Verification from concerned local police station one used to receive Passport within 90 days on residential address by Regd. Post.

  2. Its a good move to see passport process being simpler thru local post office, otherwise one had to visit HUBLI for the same. It will same time & money

  3. The friendly gentleman is Mr. Sayed. I am not sure where he is now. Wish he could man the place again. Great and friendly service. A rare positive experience dealing with Babus.

  4. I too applied for passport in 2006 and one gentleman named Mr. Sayyad guided and helped me in getting my passport. Hats off to him. If such people are posted for this work, it will be a boon.
