Anhaykumar Patil has filed his nomination papers from the Belagavi south Assembly constituency. He was elected MLA for the first time in 2004 from Bagewadi (Belgaum) – and again in 2008 from Belgaum Dakshin.
In 2013 however Sambhaji Lakshman Patil (Independent – MES) won with a margin of 6310 while Abhay Patil of the BJP was the runner up. Patil had secured 48,116 votes.
