On Tuesday Belgaum City Corporation (BCC), tabled a surplus budget of Rs 2.82 crore for the year 2011-12 and the same was presented by Mujamil Doni, finance Taxation and Appeals committee chairman.
Mr.Doni did not read entire budget but just read some important points and finished his budget speech in 10 minutes, which was again a first time for the city.
For the first time the mayor asked the council staff not to give the copies of the budget to the media and only to be distributed amongst the councilors.
In all 48 our of the 58 councilors were present, the absent being from the Dy, Mayor Gavali’s followers.
The total expected income is Rs 169 crore while Rs 166 crore is the expenditure according to the budget.
Rs.5 crore have been allocated for a new building of the BCC in the same premises as the current one, the new building was built two years ago and building is not in a good condition.
Ward grant has been increased from Rs.12 lakhs to Rs.25 lakhs.
Rs. 40 lakhs will be spent on buying new vehicles for the Mayor, Dy.Mayor & commissioner.
