After months of delay, the Belagavi City Corporation has finally inaugurated its much-awaited Help Desk and application acceptance counter for the Birth and Death Certificates Department.
The facility was inaugurated on Thursday by Mayor Preeti Kamkar and MLA Asif (Raju) Sait in the presence of Deputy Mayor Hanmant Kongali, Municipal Commissioner Kartik M., Ruling Party Leader Santosh Pednekar, corporators, and officials.
Located outside the Birth and Death Certificates Department at the Corporationโs main office, the Help Desk had been announced for launch from April 1, with the required infrastructure ready well in advance. However, its operational delay had drawn criticism from citizens.

The Help Desk will guide citizens on birth and death registration, certificate corrections, name changes, and required documentation. A dedicated application counter has also been opened.
Earlier, many applications were rejected or delayed due to missing documents or errors, forcing applicants to make repeated visits. Under the new system, applications will be verified at the Help Desk before submission. Incomplete applications will be returned immediately with guidance, while complete applications will be accepted and forwarded for processing.
The new arrangement is expected to reduce delays, minimise repeat visits, and make the certificate issuance process faster and more citizen-friendly.
