The Deccan Herald in its story has stated that Though new sequencing labs have been set up, one each in Mysuru, Belagavi and Kalaburagi, they are yet to be functional.
On December 1, it was reported that these new labs would be functional by the first week of December only.
But as per the latest story of DH these labs are yet to be functional.

National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), both part of the INSACOG network – have shouldered the responsibility of sequencing as per the government diktat that only INSACOG (Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium) labs can participate in genomic sequencing of Covid samples.

On Sunday Belagavi saw a huge spike in cases and 885 new cases were reported which is the highest in this wave.
As many as 20 doctors and 45 staff members attached to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences tested Covid-positive on Sunday.
