Key points from District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s Independence Day speech

Major Belagavi development projects

  • City flyover: ₹275.53 crore has been released for the flyover from Shankam Hotel to Rani Channamma Circle via Sangolli Rayanna Circle and Ashoka Circle. Tender deadline is August 17, 2026.
  • Second phase flyover: ₹240 crore has been approved for the Channamma Circle–Dharmveer Sambhaji Maharaj Circle stretch, with soil tests and DPR preparation underway.
  • District Collector’s office: ₹75 crore has been earmarked for the new District Collector’s building. The project is at the tender stage.
  • District stadium: ₹10 crore has been sanctioned and work is in progress.
  • Road and bridges: 21 bridge works worth ₹283 crore are being taken up in 2026-27.
  • Yellamma Temple: ₹215.37 crore has been released for development of the Sri Renuka Yellamma Temple premises at Yellammagudda. Tenders worth ₹182.18 crore have been called and contractors appointed.

Five Guarantees – Belagavi figures

  • Shakti: 61.79 crore women passengers travelled free between June 2023 and July 2026, with zero-value tickets worth ₹1,599 crore issued.
  • Anna Bhagya: ₹1,025 crore was deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts between July 2023 and December 2024. From February 2025, beneficiaries receive 10 kg rice instead of DBT.
  • Gruha Jyothi: 10.33 lakh consumers have registered out of 10.55 lakh eligible beneficiaries and receive free electricity up to 200 units.
  • Gruha Lakshmi: 12.02 lakh beneficiaries registered; ₹6,824 crore has been transferred in 31 instalments.
  • Yuvanidhi: 51,119 graduates and diploma holders have registered; ₹130 crore has been paid through DBT.

Agriculture and rural economy

  • 95% sowing completed: 7.16 lakh hectares have been sown against the target of 7.52 lakh hectares.
  • Fertiliser supply: 2.87 lakh metric tonnes supplied; 1.52 lakh metric tonnes distributed.
  • Crop insurance: ₹96.36 crore paid to 9,295 farmers for 2024-25.
  • Dairy: 32,000 farmers are members of milk cooperatives and receive a ₹5-per-litre incentive.
  • Cooperative sector: Belagavi has around 6,495 cooperative societies and 1,224 friendly cooperatives.

Industry and urban development

  • Belagavi has 28 sugar factories and more than 53 medium and large industries, employing around 27,000 people with annual turnover of ₹8,320 crore.
  • Urban development: 1,078 works worth ₹283.45 crore approved for 37 urban local bodies; 579 completed and 475 underway.
  • Indira Canteens: 24 of the 33 newly approved canteens have started; nine are nearing completion.
  • Amrit 2.0: ₹38.95 crore allocated for rejuvenation of seven lakes and improvement of seven parks in Belagavi city.
  • Urban development scheme: ₹127.50 crore allocated, with 48 works underway.
  • Sewerage: ₹45 crore project for sewerage construction/upgradation in Belagavi city is in progress.
  • Infrastructure: ₹50 crore allocated to Belagavi Municipal Corporation under the Chief Minister’s infrastructure development scheme.

Youth focus

  • Bharat Jodo youth associations are being established across the district.
  • 752 associations are planned — one in each of 497 Gram Panchayats and 255 in urban local bodies.
  • Youth aged 16–35 can join, with ₹10 lakh grant per association.
