The Belagavi KAT (Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal) bench was inaugurated on 17th December 2018 and within a month now the sitting has been “canceled with effect from January 16, 2019, until further orders.”
In the notification issued, Justice A V Chandrashekara, judicial member KAT, was constituted to function at Belagavi bench with effect from January 2, 2019. Justice Chandrashekara was on casual leave from January 2 to 4, 2019.
Thereafter 150 cases were listed before the Belagavi bench for taking up the same from 7 to 19 January 2019, but the Honorable Judicial member held sitting for two days and adjourned the cases for 4-8 weeks (except disposing of 18 applications) and returned to Bengaluru.
A request was made to post 70 cases on 16 and 50 cases on 17 January before the Belagavi bench.

KAT Inauguration by Minister Krishna Bhairegouda (1)It is also stated in the note that the Honorable Judicial member can sit at Belagavi bench only for two days in a week.

Keeping in view the cost that would be incurred for the to and fro journey of the Judicial member and staff for two days in a week from Bengaluru to Belagavi and back and shifting of records to and fro, holding of sitting for only for two days in a week at Belagavi is not viable and worthy.

Therefore, further sitting of Justice A V Chandrashekara, Judicial member at Belagavi bench of KSAT is canceled with effect from 16-1-2019 until further orders.
