Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang has initiated an inquiry into an incident where a pro-Marathi activist allegedly insulted a government employee in Kinaye village, Belagavi district.
The police social media cell flagged a video showing a young man using offensive language against Nagendra Pattar, the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Kinaye, on March 12. In the video, the youth demands that Pattar speak in Marathi. When Pattar responds that he cannot and continues speaking in Kannada, the youth resorts to abusive language.
Authorities confirmed that the video has been widely circulated on social media, and the accused has been identified. Commissioner Marbaniang has warned that such behavior towards government officials will not be tolerated and assured strict action against the perpetrator.
