The Karnataka government is planning to establish an IT park in Belagavi to create more local employment opportunities and reduce the migration of young people to other districts and states in search of jobs.

District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi, speaking at a meeting at the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) on Saturday, directed officials to prepare a comprehensive blueprint for the proposed IT park. MLA Asif Sait, who also serves as the BUDA President, has been consistently pressing for the establishment of an IT park in Belagavi. He has previously raised the need for such a project, citing its potential to attract investments and create employment opportunities for the region.

The blueprint will cover land availability, infrastructure, facilities and other requirements for the project. Jarkiholi also instructed officials to prepare a master plan and expedite further work on the proposal.

During the meeting, the minister also stressed the need to modernise major roundabouts across the city. He called for the development of smart roundabouts with a focus on traffic management, public convenience and city beautification.

Jarkiholi directed officials to give priority to infrastructure development, including roads, roundabouts and parks, with the objective of making Belagavi a better-organised and well-equipped city.

Similarly, keeping in mind Belagaviโ€™s future needs, officials have been directed to formulate a comprehensive master plan and prioritise infrastructure development, including smart roundabouts, improved traffic management, roads and parks.

The aim is to make Belagavi a more beautiful, well-equipped and well-organised city, while also developing it into a major centre for employment and job creation.
