mahilapathakThis year the Lord Ganesha in Belgaum would be welcomed by a special all Women Dhol Tasha group.

The  Somwar Peth/ Mangalwar Peth Ganesh Mandal has prepared an all women Dhol Tasha troupe this year which will perform on the first and last day of the Ganesh festival and would also showcase their talent during the 10 day festival.
Rahi Kulkarni is teaching the group to beat the drums hard. Rahi who hails from Pune but now settled here after her marriage was a member in a similar Dhol Tasha group in Pune.
There are 16 women in the group and from varied backgrounds like one is millionaire, one is homemaker, one a student, another a daily wager and another is a house maid. The aim of this group is to project to the world that women are not limited to the house and the children but they too can stand by their male counterparts beating the same Dhol a bit more louder.
