Leaders of all political parties in Belgaum have come together and prepared a wish list for the development of Belgaum. The list will be handed over to the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa during the session.
The demands:
Develop a garden on the basis of the Brindavan at Navlteerta and Ghatprabha Dams.
Separate quota for north Karnataka region in KPSC recruitment
Upgrade Goa- Belgaum road
Set up Apparel Park in Belgaum
Set up a reprocessing unit of horticulture crops in Belgaum
Not many of the promises made by the then government on the development of Belgaum during the first session in 2006, have seen the light of the day. Drinking water supply, underground drainage, repair of roads, setting up of a SEZ and Apparel Park in Waghwedhe (13 kms from Belgaum city) – all of them have been non-starters. A total of 13 major projects worth nearly Rs 300 crore were announced in 2006 for development of Belgaum alone.
