Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has announced that the much-awaited Bengaluru–Mumbai Superfast Train via Belagavi is expected to be launched by the end of June.
Sharing the update on X after meeting Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi, Joshi stated that the new Superfast service connecting Bengaluru with Mumbai has received the green signal and will operate through key cities of Central and North Karnataka, including Belagavi.
According to the post shared by Joshi, the train will travel from Bengaluru to Mumbai via:
- Tumakuru
- Davanagere
- Haveri
- Hubballi-Dharwad
- Belagavi

The announcement assumes significance as there had been growing speculation and public expectation that the proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper between Bengaluru and Mumbai would pass through Belagavi. However, it is now becoming clear that while the Vande Bharat Sleeper is likely to take the Kalyana Karnataka route, the Belagavi corridor will instead be served by this newly announced Superfast train.
For passengers from Belagavi and surrounding districts, this comes as a major connectivity boost, especially for business travellers, students, and those frequently travelling between Karnataka’s capital and Mumbai.
Joshi also indicated that there is a possibility of this Superfast service being upgraded into a Vande Bharat Sleeper in the future, a proposal that is reportedly under positive consideration by the Railway Ministry.
