To bring the digital arts knowledge in tune with the demands of the Animation Visual Effects Games and Comics industry and to bridge the gaps in the fine arts education sector, the State government has undertaken a project: Digitalisation of Art Colleges.
The project, implemented by the Karnataka Biotechnology Information and Technology Services envisages setting up of digital labs and use of digital tools.Â
The government will provide an assistance of Rs. 5 lakh per college per year for three years and another Rs. 2 lakh per college per annum would be provided to the Association of Bangalore Animation Industry as administrative charges.
The total financial outlay under the project per college is Rs. 49 lakh per annum and the grant for the first two years has already been released. Under Phase II the Beynon-Smith College of Fine Arts Belagavi will be upgraded.
Financial aid to each college selected under Phase II has been enhanced from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 7.5 lakh and the administration fee for ABAI increased from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh. The government has fixed the annual financial outlay for DAC under Phase II at Rs. 200 lakh.
