bvp belgaumBharat Vikas Parishad is an NGO serving the Motherland through more than 1100 branches spread all over the country. The members – more than 45,000 families have pooled in their „tana‟, „mana‟ and „dhana‟ to serve the society.

Bharat Vikas Parishad functions and undertakes the projects and programmes based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda ji.- “they only live who live for others.”. It is, therefore, natural, that the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated with grandeur through all the branches of BVP. The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ji is celebrated in a different and unique way.

Belgaum branch of BVP have decided to present and install the idols of Swamiji at schools. Instead of erecting One statue of Swamiji at one place, we decided, the same may be installed at different places so that, more people would come across the same and get inspiration from Swamiji. The ideal places are schools since Swamiji was always emphasizing and believing on youth and the students with the message “Give me 100 devoted youth and I shall change the world….”

Accordingly, specially made life size statues of Swami Vivekananda ji were made and in the first phase, these would be installed at six different schools. Fortunately Swamiji stayed in Belgaum for 13 days. During that time he used to be in sitting posture for the tapasya and dhyana at the currently Ramkrishna Mission Ashram at Belgaum, the same posture has been adopted. Idols would be installed at the following schools –

Joshis Central School, KLS School, Dnyan Brabodhan School of Belgaum, Sant Meera English Medium School,Mahila Vidyalaya, Maheshwari School for Blind.

In course time, more schools will be privileged to have these statues from Bharat Vikas

Parishad. The Belgaum branch is endeavoring to cover more and more schools.
