Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences, the Bowring Institute of Medical Science, Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences & Mysore Medical College have the genome-sequencing laboratories set up and would start receiving the samples from this week, reports the Indian Express.
This was informed by TK Anil Kumar, the principal secretary of the department of health and family welfare.
The colleges have been sent the required equipment.
During wave 2 of COVID, the state government had declared to set up six genome-sequencing labs in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hubli, Mangaluru, and Vijayapura. Out of these six labs, four were to be under the jurisdiction of the medical education department and two under the health department.
