BJP MLA Abhay Patil has strongly criticized the election authorities in Belagavi, accusing them of failing to address blatant violations of the poll code by the Congress. Patil argues that despite receiving timely notifications, the flying squads were slow to respond, allowing violations to go unchecked for hours.
During a press conference at the Shahapur police station on Saturday, Patil described his quick return from Telangana after receiving reports from BJP workers. According to him, these reports detailed instances of Congress members distributing cash to traders, a practice captured on CCTV footage in local shops. Patil highlighted that many traders rejected these illegal offers, refusing to be swayed.
Expressing concern over the unprecedented nature of the alleged monetary distribution by the Congress during the Lok Sabha election, Patil linked this behavior to a sense of panic induced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally. He suggested that the Congress’s desperation, driven by a perceived threat of electoral defeat, led them to resort to unethical tactics.
Furthermore, Patil dismissed claims by Congress workers of being attacked, urging authorities to use brain mapping technology to uncover the truth. He argued that such measures would help reveal the reality behind the conflicting accounts.
As tensions escalate in Belagavi’s political arena, Patil’s accusations highlight the growing rift between parties, raising doubts about the fairness of the electoral process.
