Bringing Heritage to Life: Rejuvenation of Open Dead Well at Kondappa Street Camp, Belagavi after 35 yrs

The “Rejuvenation of Open Dead Well” project at Kondappa Street Camp, Belagavi, undertaken by the Belgaum Lions, Lions of Tilakwadi, Belgaum Main, Midtown & Khanapur has been completed and inaugurated.
The project was inaugurated by Shri Rajeev Kumar, I.D.E.S., Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board & District Governor 317B MJF Lion Erle Britto Belagavi, marking a significant milestone in preserving our heritage and fostering community spirit.

This initiative not only revives a piece of our history which was rebuilt post-independence in 1952 but also ensures access to water for the local community given the circumstance of water crisis.

This well has been dead for almost 35 years and was been neglected for long. Well, rejuvenation work was carried out under the expert supervision of R S Nayak (Retd City Engineer & Kiran Nippanikar.

Thanks to all members of the local Lion Club for taking on this project. A special Thanks to Ln Arvind Sangoli,Ln Malhari , Ln Tapale,Satish Mannurkar (Cant Engg) & other Presidents of the Clubs, office bearers of the Dist were present along with the local residents of Camp.

We urge more organizations to take similar initiatives to battle the ongoing water crisis in & around the city which would make Belagavi itself water-sufficient.
