G. Prabhu, Commissioner, Belagavi City Corporation disclosed that the corporation was the actual owner of the disputed land on which Marathi medium school is housed in Chavat Galli. The original sale deed of the land and other relevant documents were traced in the record room.
Save School Action Committee has planned a huge protest march today and has sought criminal action against those officers of the corporation who are in hand and glove with the land mafia.
G Prabhu also alleged that Mokashi appears to have forged documents to grab the land. He said that necessary legal measures would be initiated against him soon. Also, criminal cases would be registered against those in the law department who have helped in the forgery.
Marathi medium school on the 3 acres and 36 guntas of land at Chavat Galli over which Jaivunisa Mokashi had claimed ownership of that piece of land. The Civil court on March had awarded the ownership to the Mokashi’s and hence on April 4 the Mokashi’s had gone to take possession of the same when the Corporation realized it fault and got an interim stay. Judge V F Patil quashed the petition filed by the City corporation. The Corporation failed in the lower court as it did not produce any documents claiming its ownership. Now the corporation has a interim stay and next hearing will be held on June 17.
