Award of Presidents Colour to a Battalion is one of the greatest honours bestowed upon in recognition of exceptional service rendered by it to the Nation both during war and peace. The Armed Forces live by the motto of ‘Naam, Namak & Nishaan” and Presidents Colours are the Nishaan after the National Flag which adorns a place of pride in the battalions Quarter Guard.
The MARATHA LIGHT INFANTRY Regimental Centre is witnessing an epoch making ceremony of colour presentation after a gap of 27 years to bestow President Colours to 23 MARATHA LI after being raised in Kolhapur on 01 Nov 2010 and 24 MARATHA LI being raised in Belagavi on 1 Oct 2009 respectively.
Presidents Colours to the two Battalions of the MARATHA LI will be presented by General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of the Army Staff in the presence of Lt Gen PJS Pannu, AVSM, VSM, Dy Chief IDS (DOT), Col of Regt, the MARATHA LI on 03 Nov 2017 from 0900hr to 1200hr during the formal Colour Presentation Parade at Talekar drill square, The MARATHA LIRC, Belagavi.
