The Belagavi City Bus Stand redevelopment which has begun planned under the Smart city project was in doldrums as the Cantonment board Belagavi had raised issues that it’s land has been used without their permission.

All work has come to stand still and only the bus shelters and the divisional office were demolished, the work of which had commenced on January 29, 2019.

Now 34 gunthas of land which was part and parcel of the City bus stand development will be handed over to the Smart city and in lieu of this land alternate 34 gunthas of land will be handed over to the Cantonment.

The alternate land has been identified at Shivaji Nagar behind CBT near Metgud Hospital. The measurement and other processes are currently on going and the said land transfer will happen any time now.

Hopefully after this the speed of work of the City bus stand development will pick up pace which in actual had to be completed by now.

The City Bus stand was planned in 2.07 acres out of which 34 gunthas land belongs to the Cantonment and no prior permission was taken from them.

The Cantonment board took objection to the same and stopped all the work as they say, BSCL has encroached on 34 gunthas of its land.

Now that this project is stuck up in a land dispute only the Lord can tell when it would commence.

Apoorva Constructions, Tumkur has won the bid for construction of city bus terminal building in Belagavi city at a cost of 32.26 crores.

Under the Smart city limited, the bus stand will get a new facade, waiting rooms, Basement parking for cars and also have a skywalk.
