Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation package of Rs 1.2 lakh and the provision of new houses for those whose homes were completely damaged due to recent rains. During a media interaction in the flood-affected Belagavi district, he addressed allegations from the BJP about discriminatory aid distribution. He clarified that the previous government under BS Yeddyurappa had promised Rs 5 lakh for complete house damage, but the aid was mismanaged, and many victims only received the first installment. In response, the government decided on the Rs 1.2 lakh compensation and housing provision. Siddaramaiah also mentioned that relocating frequently submerged villages could be considered a permanent solution, depending on public cooperation.

During his visit on Monday, the Chief Minister toured several flood-affected areas in Gokak city, including a relief center at Government Municipal College. He arrived at Sambra airport in Belagavi and traveled by road to Gokak, where he inspected the submerged Lolasur bridge over the Ghataprabha river.
