St.Paul’s school alumni to attempt for Guinness record for Largest school reunion

Date: 17th December 2016
Time: 3 p.m.
Venue: St. Paul’s High School Ground

St. Paul’s High School was founded in 1856. Fr. Charmilliot, an Austrian Jesuit, first stepped into the compound of St Paul’s as the chaplain of Our Lady of Mount Carmel chapel, that existed on these premises. From that day the Jesuits never left the premises even though their nationality might have changed. First the school had Austrian and German Jesuit fathers. They were replaced by the Portuguese Jesuits. Now Indian Jesuits of the Goa Province run the school. The school received recognition on 30th November 1868 from Bombay University as a part of Bombay Presidency. The first batch appeared in the Matriculation Examination in 1917. It was given government grant-in-aid already from 1917.

The school, now 160 years old and still going strong, is one of the top prestigious institutions of the city of Belagavi. The school which has classes right from kindergarten to the 10th standard houses over 2200+ students. There is also a plan to start a Pre University College.

Paulites of Belgaum Worldwide (PBW) is the official alumni wing of the school. The biggest achievement of the wing is the incorporation of over 50 batches as part of the wing, which has never been seen before by any institution. To mark the 160 years of the school, PBW has organized a number of events such as the Fun run marathon, PBW Monument, Blood donation camp, bike rally, inauguration of the school museum to name a few, in the year 2016 to create awareness about the 160th anniversary of the school and also to call on more Paulites to be a part of the big showdown on 17th December 2016.

DECEMBER 17th 2016

St. Paul’s has a glorious history which is formed through the life examples of its present and past students that have passed out from the institution. The school that was officially conceived as St. Paul’s high School in the year 1856, now celebrates its 160 years in the month of December 2016. It is a milestone that very few institutions have had the privilege to be proud of. To mark this celebration the school as well as the alumni have got together to put up a two day celebration that will mark the school’s anniversary and also live up to the glory of the school.

To mark the glorious accomplishment of the school completing 160 years, the alumni have set out to repay its alma-mater by setting a world record for the highest number of ex-students attending a school reunion.

St. Paul’s High School already holds the Limca record for the biggest reunion of a school which was set in the year 2010 by 1,350 alumni and staff. This feat helped us make the decision to take on the world record and attempt to break it. The Guinness World Record currently is held by Stadium High School, Tacoma, Washington, USA with 3299 Ex-students in September 2006.

This record has not been broken for the last 10 years even after several attempts by various other institutes around the world. We are aiming at 3300+ students attending the event on 17th December 2016 to break the record.

The PBW have close to 4,200+ Paulites registered online for the Guinness World Record attempt. Hence they have made an appeal to all our fellow registered Paulites to be physically present on the 17th December 2016 and if someone has not registered, kindly register and attend to break the World record and create history.

Paulites need to bring along a self attested copy of their identity proof for the record. Registration time is 9AM to 2PM. Time of the record attempt will be at 3 PM to 4.10 PM.
