Constable Raju Kerimani, attached to Kakati police station, was returning home around 9pm when he heard the screams of a woman coming from a car near Pearl Hotel near Bennali village on the National Highway.
He rushed to the car, and four inmates of the cars outnumbered the constable and ran away. In the pursuit of the same, the constable fell into a well in a field and was only rescued the next morning when the owner of the field came over.
The constable was admitted to KLE Hospital and has fractured one of his legs.
