Senior Cops assure action against errant police inspectors who manhandled journalists
A delegation of journalists led by by senior journalist Sarju Katkar, Suhas Kulkarni and MK Hegde met Superintendent of Police Ravikante Gowda and DCP Amarnath Reddy and brought to their notice the manhandling of young journalist Kiran by Mal Maruti inspector Shivashankar Tengirakar on Tuesday and also the assault by Nandgad PSI Usman Avati on Khanapur based journalist Prasanna Kulkarni was unacceptable.
Mal Maruti PI Tengirakar however later apologized for his act.
SP BR Ravikanthegowda and DCP Amaranath Reddy assured to take disciplinary action against the errant police inspectors who manhandled journalists in Belagavi and Khanapur recently after an ACP level officer conducted an inquiry.
PSI Usman Avati, as a result of his inhuman attitude officer has been shifted to non executive position.
