Previously, the deadline was set for November 17. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has announced that the government will soon issue an order to officially extend the deadline.
Mr. Reddy explained that the decision to extend the deadline was made due to the limited number of HSRP installations thus far and an ongoing court case related to the matter. He stated, “Given the current circumstances, we have decided to extend the deadline until February 17, 2024. The official announcement, along with an official order, will be made within the next few days.”

The Transport Department had previously issued a notification in August of this year, mandating the installation of HSRP on approximately two crore vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, with a deadline of November 17.
