At a press conference, BJP leaders announced the upcoming programs to be held in Belgaum in the coming week. On March 2, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will launch the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vijay Sankalp Abhiyan in Belagavi.
Additionally, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be present at Rajhansgad to organize a program in accordance with government protocol to inaugurate the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj atop the gad.
The unveiling of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajhunsgad Fort in Yellur, near Belagavi, has become a source of contention between MLAs Laxmi Hebbalkar and Ramesh Jarkiholi, as Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai prepares to inaugurate the statue at a grand event on March 2.
Hebbalkar and her supporters in Belagavi have asserted that she was instrumental in the installation of the statue at Rajhunsgad, while BJP leaders, including former MLA of the constituency Sanjay Patil, MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, and several other leaders, have argued that the BJP government in the state released funds for the development of Rajhunsgad Fort and also invested heavily to get the statue installed. This has sparked a heated debate between the two sides, with each claiming credit for the installation of the statue.
