Dilip Kumar and his visit to Belagavi

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday at the age of 98 in Mumbai. Popularly known as the ‘Tragedy King’ of Bollywood, Kumar was known as a method actor who was never limited to genres. In a career spanning more than five decades, the prolific legend was part of comedies, dramas, romance, and so on.

Some of his memories associated with Belagavi have been refreshed.

The actor Dilip Kumar had a friendly relationship with Iqbal Seth, an entrepreneur from the city and he had visited Belagavi 3-4 times.

Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, and other film actors had come to Belagavi to attend the Kalyanji-Anandji Night organized by the city’s Bashiban Education Society in 1983 for the foundation laying ceremony of Bashiban High School.

Dilip Kumar was present as the guest of honor at the inauguration ceremony of Al Amin English Medium High School in Azamnagar.

Dr. Mustaq Jemadar, Hamid Seth, Dr. Z. F.Hafiz had a friendly relationship with the legendary actor.

  1. Yusuf Khan urf Dilip Kumar was truely a born Indian film actor and held this honour for Six long decades(since 1944).Besides that He was a generous and Humble person in his life time. The long innings of his life at his age of 98 years has come to an end, May His Soul Rest In Peace……
