Entry of tourists in reserved forests of Khanapur restricted

The Forest Department officials have decided to restrict entry of tourists and visitors in reserved forests of Khanapur. They have warned of stern action against those found violating the law. The main aim of this is to decrease the ‘biotic’ pressure on the rich flora and fauna.

It is a normal scene where people enter such areas near the water falls, streams to just drink and create nuisance all around which is not good for the Flora and fauna in the area. Sometimes there are fights as well. Broken glass bottles, plastic waste are another cause of worry.

Currently only department staff and local villagers will be allowed to enter the forest.
