On October 17, 2023, at 5:30 PM, a significant operation was carried out by a team of officials from the Excise Department in Belagavi.
Their operation took place near the NH4 toll booth, close to Hire Bagewadi, where they successfully apprehended a Tata lorry vehicle with the registration number MH43 Y 2976, originating from Goa. This vehicle was found to be carrying 250 hidden liquor boxes concealed within two electric transformers, with the intention of transporting them to Telangana. The team seized them, and a case has been registered against the accused.
Utilizing advanced GPS technology, the team effectively controlled the vehicle during the operation. The accused, identified as Shriram Sudhakar Parade, a 31-year-old resident of Mumbai, Maharashtra, has been taken into custody. The total value of the seized vehicle amounts to 10 lakhs, while the value of the confiscated liquor is estimated at 20 lakhs, resulting in a total case value of 30 lakh rupees.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
