Farmers from the villages of Kadoli and Agasaga in Belagavi taluk have submitted a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi, requesting that their agricultural land not be taken to construct a parking terminal along the Ring Road. The petition was presented on Saturday, highlighting their concerns over the ongoing land acquisition process.
The land in these villages is already being appropriated for the proposed parking terminal, with more acquisitions underway. However, the farmers argue that no prior project for a terminal in Agasaga village had been planned, making the sudden acquisition unexpected and unfair. They further allege that the National Highways Authority is proceeding with the acquisition without proper notification to the landowners.
The affected families, who rely on their agricultural land for livelihood, fear that losing their land will push them into economic hardship. They have therefore urged the authorities to reconsider the plan and spare their farmland from being taken for the parking terminal.
