In January 2018, Dharmen Purohit set up a community fridge that provided free food to the needy. People across the city could keep their excess or leftover food, in this community fridge. And since then, the concept caught on in the city. We are not sure but even before this there must have been individuals who were doing a similar kind of work for the society.

Rotary Club Of Belgaum South has come up with a new initiative a 24/7 Free Food Project ANNADAN in association with Niyaz Group of Hotels, Belagavi intending to serve the poor and hungry with fresh food round the clock in November 2018.

Recently Youth Red Cross wing of KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences opened a fridge for the needy near the Shiva Temple JNMC Campus, Belagavi.

Speaking to AAB, Dharmen said it feels happy to see many are following this up and in turn, the needy are getting benefited. More and more associations, even resident associations must come forward and join this movement. After all, we are just giving something that we have had enough.
We also have the wall of kindness at the Railway Station where people can leave their clothes and other stuff which the needy can pick up.
We have Surendra Shivajirao Angolkar who serves 150+ persons daily at the civil hospital.
Irshad Soudgar of Niyaaz group said people have to come forward share the excess food so that the needy can fulfill their hunger. It may be the smallest gesture one can do, so all those who can share some food should do it at the Community fridges kept across the city.

PLEASE MENTION THE PLACES IN BELGAUM ONE. WHICH ARE ALL THE PLACES WHERE
THESE FRIDGES ARE INSTALLED.
