Forest Dept developing Tree park in Khanapur

Khanapur forest range has some diverse flora and fauna; the forest department has no envisaged developing a Tree park at Koundal, Karambal villages, Khanapur range in the western ghats.

The entire Khanapur forest range has rich presence of trees including animals, birds which might not be easy to spot while one is on a trek. Hence the Forest department is developing a tree park where all kids of tree would be planted in vicinity so that each one can enjoy the mini forest.

Spread over 100 acres near Koundal, Karambal villages near to Goa-Karnataka state highway and Alanawar Road. Just 2 km far from Khanapur town, this tree park will be good recreational spot for students, senior citizens, research scholars.


State govt has sanctioned 50 lakhs and will have lay ground for kids, walking track, designers chairs, drinking water facility, toilets, theme based trees zones, each tree will have local and scientific name mentioned on it.

Forest department expects this will attract tourists and also photographers as some fruit bearing trees have also been planted to attract the birds.
