After the recent press note from the Deputy Commissioner regarding the ban of PoP (Plaster of Paris) Ganesh idols and all such idols would be seized, the Madhyavarthi Sarvajanik Shri Ganeshotsav Mahamandal (MSSGM), says it is very unfortunate for such an order to be given just 3 weeks before the festival.
The Mandal is of the opinion that, almost all idols are ready and with this decision it would be very difficult for the mandals and also for all the citizens who get such idols and worship.
The mandal now plans to give a memorandum to the DC in this regard.
The Ganesh Festival in Belagavi is one magnanimous affair where people from neighboring states make it a point to visit the city during the festival to see the 400 odd Ganesh Idols in the various public pandals.
The mandal also raised the issue of non-availability of Clay for making the idols.
