A suspect in a ganja case was brought to Belagavi Rural police station for interrogation and died in police custody on Friday night.
Basangouda Irangouda Patil(45), a suspect from Belladbagewadi village in Hukkeri taluk was arrested and brought to Belagavi Rural Police Station under the provisions of the NDPS Act for inquiry.
As per the police, In the evening, the staff of Belagavi Rural Police Station took Basanagowda Iranagowda Patil, to the police station in the case of NDPS.
He had complained of bad health and was provided treatment at a PHC and then when he was stable was taken to the station where he later vomited and was immediately taken to BIMS but he did not respond to the treatment and died.
A case was registered and sent to CID Bengaluru for further investigation after obtaining a complaint from the deceased’s wife.
