GIT Project Expo – A new perspective of innovation and research

Project expo 2018, a unique project exhibition was held at Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi, on 23rd May 2018. Shri. Shreenivasa Ramanujam, State Manager, Academic Relationship, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bengaluru inaugurated the exhibition. 800 + students have exhibited more than 200 projects in the expo.
Today’s engineering graduates need to be innovative and entrepreneurial. They should contribute in building an innovation driven – ecosystem which develops economic success and wealth in turn develops super power India, said Shri. Shreenivasa Ramanujam.

There is an urgent need to inspire the young minds to take research so that their innovative minds will come up with solution for today’s societal problems, he told. This kind of platforms truly helps creative minds to showcase their innovative ideas, he said. He has pointed out the importance of involving in the finding the problems and designing the solutions in the form projects and innovations. He spoke about the contemporary research and development in the industry. He appreciated the efforts of Staff and Students for the value adding Endeavour which aims to unleash creative & problem solving skills of students.
Details about some of the projects-
To prevent accidents which occur due to cracks developed on railway tracks a working model called “Railway Track Crack Detector” was presented.
To prevent head on collision in two – wheelers by monitoring the distance between the adjacent vehicles and applying the appropriate braking pressure automatically and also a Bluetooth controlled ignition locking as an antitheft measure, a modified two wheeler displayed in the expo.
Design and optimization of mixture/shredder for conversion of kitchen waste into fertilizer, a working model was demonstrated.
To avoid traffic squash in the market area of Belagavi city, a prototype model on necessity of ordinance of multi level car parking was exhibited.
With intention of preparing light translucent walls, experimental results of study on Light Translucent Concrete were presented. Besides these, many number innovative ideas on nanotechnology, green energy, agriculture, transportation, digitization, health, Agri Solutions, Solar Solutions.
Water Harvesting, Traffic Management, Waste Management and many smart projects for smart city were displayed.
Principal, Dr A.S. Deshpande, HOD’s Dr. J. K. Kittur and Dr. P. P. Patavardhan, all the Deans, Students and students from various colleges and their parents, industrialists were witnessed the project expo -18. Department of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and communication Engineering have jointly coordinated the event.
