GIT Students team wins Smart India Hackathon 19

Karnataka Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology’s(GIT) students team called “Tech Fanatic” comprising Vaishnavi Harikanth, Aparna Manohar, Amit Hannikeri, Rahul Mahendrakar Tanvish Minache and Vaibhav Kulkarni has won the First Place with a cash Prize of Rs 1,00,000/- in the prestigious world’s biggest hackathon event “Smart India Hackathon -19”.This team has worked for Samsung R&D on a project called “Eco-Drive Goal-Reduce carbon footprint of the travel Proposal by building a smartphone app that helps you to car/bike pool”

Smart India Hackathon-2019 is a non-stop digital product development competition yearly organized by the Government of India under Digital India programme in which problems are posed to technology/engineering students for innovative/smart solutions. Smart India Hackathon 2019 had 2 sub-editions – Software as well as Hardware. Software Edition will be 36-hour software product development competition, similar in concept to Smart India Hackathon-2017 and 18. 45+ union ministries, departments and state governments and also many PSU’s and MNcs have defined the problems for the students. This grand initiative, making it much bigger than the previous editions. Through this initiative, govt. departments will directly engage with thousands of technical students and challenge them to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages, and corruption. Total problem definitions 550+, Total submissions 57000+ from 34000+ teams from prestigious technical institutes pan India. After rigorous evaluation, 1500 teams were shortlisted at National Level for Grand Finale. This grand finale was held recently at state capitals/major cities simultaneously.

GIT Smart India Hackathon -19Out of 34000 + teams pan India, a total four teams were selected from KLS GIT for Grand Finale of Prestigious Technical Competition “Smart India Hackathon- 2019”. other student members of the three groups are Srishti Patil, Sinchana Shanbhag, Nisha Puri, Meghana Ghanti, Nitin Bhuyyar, Md. Shoeb Meti, Spoorthy Kale, Shivani Handigol, Shaheen Havaldar, Sanjidah Gundkalli, Chaitrali Kulkarni, Sudharani Patil, Sudhanshu Shekhar, Shubham Deshpande, Shrilakshmi Desai, Sinchana Shetty, Shivani Patil and Sneha Odugoudar. Dr. Santosh Saraf, Prof. Gajendra Deshpande, Prof. Rahul Kulkarni, Mr. Anand Deshpande, Dr. Vineet Kulkarni, Prof Ajay Acharya, Rhythm Tyagi, Veena Mawarkar, Prof Manjula Ramannavar, and Prof. Vaidehi Deshpande guided these students.

Four projects from GIT selected for grand finale are 1. To develop a common Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) portal 2. Securing and increasing the productivity of BYOD in classrooms at schools 3. Eco-Drive Goal- Reduce the carbon footprint of the travel Proposal by building a smartphone app that helps you to car/bike pool, compare and compete with your friends on the carbon footprint of the travel. 4.Rojgar Yojana: Open source, Development of customizable micro, small industry resource management system from KLSGIT.
