Prashant Shashikant Mahagaonkar aged 38, a gold smith was savagely murdered by a gang before looting the gold and silver ornaments on Belgaum-Khanapur Road in Belgaum in the late hours of Saturday.
Mahagaonkar had a jewellery shop at Desur village and he used to reside in Khasbag. On Saturday night he was gong home after the days work when he was attacked and robbed at around 9.30 PM.
Severe injuries were found on his head. Farmers going to their fields in the morning found the body and informed the police. Sources say this is the 4thj such incident of loot and murder on the said road.
A case has been registered at Belgaum Rural Police Station.
