There was good response to the Karnataka bandh call given by various organisations to protest injustice to Karnataka by the Mahadayi water disputes tribunal’s interim order.
Though a few city buses and long-distance routes towards Maharashtra operated in the morning hours, their services were suspended following protest by farmers in the afternoon.
All schools and colleges were declared a holiday. Commercial establishments in all the major market centres remained closed, while medical stores, hospitals and private clinics were open.
Cinema halls had suspended the 12 PM & 3 Pm shows as well. Various Organisations protested at Chennama Circle and also at Peeranwadi cross.
A group of youth under police protection was seen going around the main business market shouting slogans towards the injustice by the order.
Commercial establishments were opening as this story is being published but the number of people on the roads are minimal.
