The Belagavi city is set to undergo a major traffic management overhaul by constructing a new flyover. The proposed project, which will run from Highway Junction Sankam Hotel, Ashoka Circle up to Peeranwadi, has a green signal from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The first phase of the project will focus on constructing the flyover to connect to CBT and further same will be built up to Peeranwadi which will include Roundabouts and entry and exit lanes on both sides.

In the meeting to review the progress of national highway projects held in Bengaluru, Minister of Public Works Satish Jarkiholi met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and presented a list of development works, including the construction of two flyovers and the District Collector’s Office complex in the Belagavi city. He has agreed to sanction the works and has assured that financial assistance will be provided for these projects.

The construction of the flyover, which has been the dream of Belagaviites for many days, is being taken up by the central government, and there is a high possibility that the work will start at the beginning of the new year.

  1. The three state highways connecting Belgavi to Goa via Chorla Ghat, via Anmod Ghat and via Hemangadda have turned into such pathetic condition that they should be called slow-ways instead of highways.
With work at a snail’s pace, the cautionary boards claiming ” men at work” have elephant grass grown upto 10 ft and more back to back with the board.
These three routes have been the life lines for trade like the historical Silk Route.
