The petition filed by the farmers who are affected by the Halga Macche Bypass came up for hearing and the court has continued the stay in favour of the framers.
The court has asked NHAI to produce the notification it had issued in 2009. Advocate Gokakkar who is pleading for the farmers brought this 2009 notification context infront of the court.
As per that 2009 notification the road was to commence from Fish Market, but now the fertile lands of the farmers are been acquired for the said bypass.
The aggrieved farmers in 2019 had approached the high court and in December had granted a stay on all the work on the Halga Macche bypass but even then some work was carried out by NHAI in this period.
NHAI argued that it has faced a loss of 44 crores and hence it may be granted permission to carry on the road work immediately.
The 9-10 km (approx) Halga Macche bypass planned has not materialized as the farmers have protested against the same almost all of the land is fertile and multiple crops are been taken.
About 130 acres of land will have to be acquired for the 9 ms stretch which will pass through Halga, Zadshahpur, Madhavpaur, Old Belagavi, Vadgaon, Shahpur, Mache.
