There was unprecedented rush to fill petrol at all the petrol pumps in Belgaum from this morning. Thanks to the news in a local news paper which said that Petrol pumps in the city would be closed from Dec 22 to December 24 for want in increase in commission.
However in reality it seems and sources also confirmed that the strike by the petrol pump retailers has been called on only December 24 all over India for a single day only.
The Karnataka Petroleum Dealers Association, a member of the CIPDA, has said petrol pump owners would be on strike on December 24 if their demands were not met. The association is demanding implementation of Apurva Chandra Committee recommendations which has said that there should be a constant revision of commission to petrol pump retailers every six months. Also all the petroleum dealers across the country would switch-off the lights in their respective petrol pumps on December 22 and 23.
